My philosophy is to provide a safe and respectful environment that is challenging yet non-threatening, where all students have equal opportunity to learn and are inspired to do so daily. I plan to challenge them to reach their highest potential. I believe that I will only get from my students what I expect from them therefore, I will expect their very best. My desire is for them to blossom and to believe in their ability!
I have taught elementary children for the last 20 years. I have taught Kindergarten for the last 16 years. I graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Sciences in Elementary Education. I also earned three additional endorsements in Science, Math and Kindergarten. Since attaining my degree, I have continued to take classes, and attend seminars. I have been trained in Orton-Gillingham. A very positive interactive way of gaining phonemic awareness for beginning readers. I am currently working towards my Masters in Early Childhood Education, I am always eager to continue my endeavor to learn.
My husband is an engineer at Cummins and we have two children, Iris and Lily. Our family enjoys sailing, traveling and both girls are avid ice skaters.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, dogs, (Lucy and Levi) and working in my yard. Most of all I enjoy teaching Kindergarten students just like your child!
We will have a great year together… learning to read, learning math, creating art, making new friends and much more.
My sequential objectives are all in direct correlation with the Core Standards for Indiana.
“The hand is the chief teacher of the student.”
