Hello! My name is Quinike Nusawardhana and I am the Outdoor Learning Lab (OLL) Greenhouse and Garden Coordinator. I work with the teachers to develop science class lesson plans using the OLL & the surrounding gardens.
Projects have included the JMG for Middle School, butterfly life cycle (egg to caterpillar to butterfly), plant identification & botany, raising earthworms, cricket habitat, composting, planting vegetables, herbs and flowers in raised beds, pollinators garden and a dig site. We also have Mary’s Garden with a Rosary Path, a Butterfly House and a lending library! Every spring we have annual Spring Plant Sale and Ressurection Garden, hopefully we'll have Fall Pollinator Sale during Fall Festival too.
I have two children, Alexandra who just started her PhD Program in Pennsylvania State College of Medicine and Albert who is a freshman in Purdue School of Engineering, both Alexandra and Albert graduated from St Bartholomew School. I have been married to my husband, Antonius for 24 years. I also volunteer as a Wild Ambassador and Commissary Assistant at the Indianapolis Zoo.
I am the staff member for the Horticulture Club along with St. Bartholomew parent & Master Gardener, Kim Rayburn. Horti Club meets every Monday after school for an hour.
Also, with Fr. Chris Wadelton and Mrs. Cathy Lampton, I lead the Climate Restoration Team, with the guidance of Laudato Si from Pope Francis, we meet every Thursday during lunch time. To join Horti Club or CRT or if you have any additional questions, please email me at: outdoorlab@stbirish.net.
