Hello! My name is Elizabeth Ward, and the 2021-22 school year will be my 9th year at St. Bartholomew. I am a 2011 Indiana University School of Education graduate (Go Hoosiers!) with a degree in elementary education. I taught 3rd grade for 6.5 years before taking time off to spend at home with my first son. I spent two part-time years with the Title/resource team, and I took last school year off after the birth of my second son.
What an interesting and amazing turn of events to now be the music teacher! I am excited to combine my elementary background with my love for music. I began playing piano in second grade, after my parents gave me a keyboard for Christmas. I taught myself how to play, after learning how to read music (in the very same music classroom I will now teach in!) and using that knowledge to learn familiar hymns from an old Breaking Bread book! I began taking formal lessons, and those initial experiences led me to voice lessons and children's choir...which led me to flute lessons...which led me to concert band, marching band, church bands and choirs, solo and ensemble competitions, and other unique and special ways to humbly share my love for music. Most recently, I played flute with Giggin' fer God at church, and I stepped in to lead the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade church bands in Spring 2019.
In my free-time, I'm usually running around with my boys: my husband, Eric, and our little guys, Andrew (3yo) and Cooper (1yo). I also like to kick back with a hot coffee and a frozen chocolate chip cookie to watch some HGTV!
