All students should have a blue emergency card on file in the office. The cards give the school nurse permission to give medications to your child. If you did not receive one or if you would like an additional card to up date information, please email: nurse@stbirish.net
Parents please remember that we will be following the CDC recommendations for illness. This includes a written note from your healthcare provider if your child has been tested for Covid-19 stating that they are allowed to return to school. As a reminder students must be fever free for 24 hours prior to returning and be able to comfortably wear a face covering while at school
Medication Guidelines:
Students are not to carry medication to school or have on themselves during school except for EpiPens or Inhalers and only with proper documentation. An adult, or parent representative, over the age of 18 may drop off medication for a student. This medication will be secured in the nurse office. When possible, please give your child’s medication at home.
Prescription Medications:
A prescription medication form must be completed and signed by a physician and on file in the nurses office before the medication will be administered if it is a routinely prescribed medication.
Antibiotics, cough and allergy medications can be given throughout the school day, however all medication must be in the original, pharmacy-labeled container.
Over-the-counter Medications:
Non-prescription medication requires written permission from the parent or guardian. An over-the-counter medication form is available from the school upon request.
Any over the counter medication must be in it’s original container with directions clearly marked.
Medications:
All medications must be brought to school by a parent, guardian or representative over the age of eighteen, in the original container. Prescription medications must also have a doctor’s prescription brought or faxed to the nurse. In order to administer any medications, a form must be filled out and signed by the parent or guardian. These forms are handed out the first day of school or can be sent home with a student upon request. The school does not have Tylenol or Advil to administer to students on a routine basis. Each student must have their own brought in to the clinic by a parent or guardian and written permission given to the nurse.EpiPens and Inhalers:
Students requiring EpiPens and Inhalers may carry them on their person with proper documentation from a healthcare provider. Forms may be faxed to school at 812-376-0377.
