St. Bartholomew Athletics is excited to start our first official year with all sports joining the CYO (Catholic Youth Organization). We know this will bring many opportunities for our student athletes and families to compete amongst other parishes in the Archdiocese.
CYO offers many sports throughout the school year. For the 20/21 school year, St. B’s will offer the following sports: Girls and Boys Basketball, Cheerleading, Girls Volleyball and Golf. These sports will be offered for boys and girls grades 5-8. Depending on the number of student athletes participating and coaches in each sport, adding a team for grade 4 is a potential option.
It is important to note, at St. Bartholomew every athlete will make a team. We do not cut at any level. We cherish the opportunity athletics gives to each child.
-What protocols are we taking to keep the kids and coaches safe from COVID?
We are following the guidelines set from the CDC, CYO, Archdiocese, and IHSAA for all sports and gatherings. I have worked with the parish and school office to outline very specific guidelines that all of our coaches and volunteers will be following. These specific guidelines will be outlined for you before your child enters the gym.
-When will I know the schedule?
With the shift to CYO, the process of game scheduling will largely be in the hands of the CYO office. The game/match schedules typically are released 3 weeks before each season begins.
-How many games will we play?
This will vary depending on the sport. Typically each team plays 6-8 games during the regular season with 1 postseason tournament. This is subject to change and will be communicated to you at the call-out meeting before the season begins.
-Do I need a physical?
If you participated in St. B’s athletics last year, that physical is still valid through this year. If you are new to athletics, we will need an updated physical on file before you are able to participate in sports. This includes open gyms. See the link to the physical form above.
